The standard in most bars is $1 for each beverage or 10%, which generally adds up to $1. Bartenders are tipped out by other members of the staff, so they are walking away with plenty of money.
On the other: Bartenders do more work than servers because they're the ones actually making the drinks, not the server. They deserve the full 20%.
STEVE'S VERDICT: "[At the bar] you should leave 15 to 20 % of the total cost of that drink, which may seem kind of ridiculous. But think of it this way: At the table, you're paying 15-20%. Why does the bartender not get that money, but the waiter - who doesn't make those drinks- does?

3. WHEN, IF EVER, IS IT ACCEPTABLE TO LEAVE A BAD TIP?
On one hand: Never. Even if your service is really, really bad. The tip money is being distributed to multiple employees of the business. If you're unhappy with the service, it's not fair to penalize the entire group of employees who depend on this money to make their living.
On the other: It's OK to leave a bad tip or no tip at all if you receive bad service. It's your right as a paying customer, and it will send a message of displeasure to the business.
STEVE'S VERDICT: " I don't suggest stiffing on the tip, because you are punishing all the other people connected to that food chain. I tell people to talk to the manager and say, 'I had very poor service, but I'm leaving a tip anyway.'"

And lastly this is probably one of the most heated and often discussed questions about tipping I hear and also complain myself about.

SHOULD A BUSINESS / SERVER BE ABLE TO AUTOMATICALLY INCLUDE GRATUITY IF IT'S NOT A LARGE GROUP?

One one hand: Yes, in certain cases. Many tourists from other countries don't understand the tipping protocol in the United States. Business that provide a service have a right to protect themselves and the employees who are offering the services.
On the other: It is outrageous for a business/server to include the tip unless it's a large group. Legally, servers/businesses don't have the right to make the customer pay any gratuity large group or not. Bet most of you did not know that, however it is most businesses company policy and it is posted someplace for the client to see and it is your decision to do business with that company after reading such policy.

<br Although sun exposure raises our levels of much-needed vitamin D and boosts mood, it also wreaks havoc on skin, causing wrinkles, hyper-pigmentation and cancer. As salon owners, estheticians and educators in the beauty and skin care industry it is our obligation to understand the science behind sunscreens, so we can help educate clients on how to protect themselves while enjoying time in the sun. So after checking in with the experts to give you all the latest facts on SPF, UVA and UVB the cutting-edge ingredients in sunscreens that really work to benefit skin and useful tips to help clients develop their own "sun sense."
The 411 on SPF, UVA and UVB -
Sun Protection Factor, or SPF, has been the gold standard for rating sunscreens for a long time. This rating refers to the amount of UVB radiation that induces redness while wearing sunscreen, relative to the amount it would take without it. As of today this is the only gauge for a sunscreen product's effectiveness and it remains a key determinate in consumers purchasing decisions.
Many people do not realize that SPF makes no protection claims against UVA radiation. And yet commercial sunscreen manufactures continue to raise SPF ratings to s high as SPF 100 or more-to little effect. "An SPF 30 blocks 96.6% of the sun's rays and provides sufficient protection," says Karen Aspuith, "Products with higher SPFs are often double or triple the price and give users a false sense of security, making them feel they don't need to reapply."
"The amount of protection gained from increasing the SPF from 30 to 45 is only between 2% and 4%, while the level of potentially irritating chemical ingredients is raised significantly," confirms Laura Root. Some of the latest advancements in sunscreen focus on UVA protection rather than SPF. Because UVB rays are shorter and stop at the skin's surface, they are easier to contain, most of todays advancements focus on the longer, more damaging UVA rays that penetrate the lower dermis but cause no burning sensation. They damage "invisibly."
The Future of Sunscreen:
Skincare manufactures are on the lookout for new and nature-extracted ingredients to help make sunscreen as safe and appealing as possible, while remaining effective. One example is calcium hydroxyapatite, a natural constituent of bones and teeth, which is currently being tested for UV protection. It not only works as a physical sunscreen but it is believed to possibly impart an anti-aging and anti-wrinkle effect on skin. Researchers are also investigating how natural antioxidants-such as vitamin E, beta carotene, green tea, fish oil and vitamin C - can protect skin. One major advantage to using these types of ingredients is that they can easily be added to sunscreen formulas or taken orally to provide all-over skin protection. Antioxidants have been shown not only to provide some UV protection, but also to reduce inflammation and wrinkling, as well as brighten skin.
As modern science works toward better ways to bottle sun protection, we should all realize that there are multiple methods for shielding our skin from potentially irreversible damage. We need to seize every opportunity to educate ourselves on bolstering our skin's defenses. SPFs alone is an inadequate way of looking at protection from the sun. Foods rich in antioxidants and anti-inflammatory, such as pomegranates, apricots and tomatoes, as well as lipids, such as hyaluronic acid and ceramide, improve the barrier function of skin and protect it from a range of insults. Think of it as layering, Wear your antioxidants, wear your SPF, wear your mineral makeup with SPF ... get as much protection as possible everyday from everyday things and as all experts seem to agree, frequent reapplication is key. Finally, lets all remember to use common sense.
